Engagement?...No I think not.

I'm here at my boyfriends house this week. Last night I decided to cook dinner for the family. I watch a lot of food network so I had a few ideas. His mom showed me the whole chicken she had in the freezer and I knew what I would make. I really enjoy watching Ina Garten, "Barefoot Contessa", who is often making chicken on her show, so I naturally took a recipe from her. I made her Engagement Roast Chicken, which had been renamed that after she was told by women that all worked in the same office, who when anyone made this for their boyfriend they were then engaged within 24 hours! I did not make this with the hopes of my boyfriend asking me to marry him though, I only made it to happily feed his family. It indeed came out good too(and it actually looked a lot like the picture!), for sides I made green beans and mashed cauliflower. This is a great meal for an averaged sized family but with the seven of us(4 of them boys!) the meat went fast. I will be making this again, maybe with some slight changes, and maybe next time I will actually be looking for that special question...

What remains is the future

I have been wanting to do this for a while, this is what I wore today! Navy "what remains is the future" Truely Madly Deeply tee from Urban Outfitters(tucked in a bit because its so long!), light destroyed denim shorts from Pac Sun, vintage hand-me-down belt from the 70's from my dad, purple checkered vans from Journey's, and the heart necklace was a Christmas gift from my boyfriend :) I also was wearing some lipstick, which is something I've been trying lately. Today in fact, I bought some more from Target, but was once again dissappointed as I was when I purchased some from there about a month ago. For the real good stuff I have learned to go to the department stores. The kind I wore today was a department store buy, and thats why I think its so good.

Summer Skin

I'm officially ready to move out of my parents house for the summer already! I can't wait to go back to school, who would ever think I would think that. Luckily my amazing boyfriend is coming this weekend to visit me and then to sweep me away back to his house near where I go to school and where many of my friends are nearby! I can't wait to see him and get a break from being home. Anyways, I've been trying out some new facial treatments lately to try to improve my skin and keep myself occupied. The first was a yogurt mask and the second was an aspirin mask. The yogurt one was....kinda gross haha, I think it helped to firm my face and maybe I'll try it again. The aspirin one is something that I have been wanting to try since I saw it on Youtube. I think this will become a weekly routine, because I liked it quite alot. It made my face very stiff when it was on, but when I washed it off my skin felt very soft and looked nice! If you have red, irritated skin or acne then this could be a helpful solution. Here is the link on youtube, which explains why and how to make the mask. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-Hksg8B4cQ

We don't care anymore...

So I've been thinking lately, I wish everyone cared how they looked as much as people do on TV and in Hollywood. Peoples casual attitude about life kinda depresses me. I remember looking at old pictures of my grandmother from back in the 50's and 60's and she always looked so fabulous! She always wore heels everyday with her perfectly matching and meticulously put together onsaumble. On more dressy occasions she even threw on her fur hat and shawl. Now I go to the store and people are wandering around in their PJ's looking like they escaped from the mental institution! Why!?!? ugg...these people make me feel so uncomfortable. I'm the girl who wants to dress up everywhere I go, even to Wal-Mart. I like to put together unique and fashion forward outfits, and wear 4 in. stilettos! I feel weird being so put together among the mental escapees though, because I look like the weird one, and I feel like people look at me and think I'm trying too hard. The truth is that I love fashion and I actually just care and want to look HOT! I really hope times change again and people, women in particular, begin to care once again. Then I will be able to look amazing, but not stick out like a sore thumb in my heels in Home Depot. haha.

Taylor Momsen

I have not been keeping up on many of my TV shows, including gossip girl. I do try to keep up on the fashions and stars of the show. Taylor Momsen was recently on a British morning show, where of course she shows off how wonderful Americans manners are and not only looks extremely bored the entire time but also drops an 's' bomb. I love this girl, but seriuosly look alive! and come on of course you can't swear on a LIVE morning show. The other big problem that people had with her appearence was her lack of pants....this honestly makes me laugh. Yes, maybe she should have been more covered but her shirt isn't any shorter than dresses and skirts many women walk around in. She is right to defend her style, she has the youth and body for it, you go girl! I had no idea though that she was as young as she is! Taylor is only 16 years old, but looks and acts many years older. I thought she was at least 21! I wish Taylor luck with her band and acting, and will contine to try to look as fashionable as she is, maybe ill try my luck with some knee highs and no pants ;) here is the link to the huffington post with the video and some reactions.http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/05/11/taylor-momsen-goes-pantsl_n_571895.html

MMMMM BROWNIES!!

So I'm still working up the nerve to do those exercises, but while I was waiting I decided I wanted some brownies :) So I found this quick microwave brownie recipe that I remember seeing before. I didn't have unsweetened cocoa, so I just used hot coco mix and used less sugar. It's pretty good, not as good as regualar brownies, but its great to suppress a late night craving. Here's the recipe:

Exercise?

So I'm sitting on my futon in my sweats watching Wendy Williams. I should however, be doing some of these exercises that Daily Candy was nice enough to inform me about! Tracy Anderson (Gwyneth Paltrow's trainer who helped her to get her fit figure for Iron Man 2) shows a number of different moves to get your body beach ready. She does a few segments targeting specific parts of the body in different parts of Central Park, one on the benches which is quite different.I am planning on doing these exercises, when I can actually get the motivation to get off this futon. My favorite exercise that Anderson demonstrates is for those pesky love handles, which I always have trouble with. Check it out!

Yearning for long locks

so, I've been trying to grow my hair out for a little while now. I chopped off a good amount last summer with the rest of the world. It was above my shoulders with layers, and sooo cute. But I got annoyed with the hassle of straightening it all the time and keeping it styled. It seems like short hair is easy, but that's only true for people with naturally straight hair. Anyways I used to have really really long hair a couple years ago, and I'm starting to miss it. I look at all the celebs with their long flowing locks and I want that too. Mary-Kate and Kim K are definitely some of my hair icons. I know they have extensions, but I still want their hair, naturally. Maybe if I was rich like a celebrity I would get extensions, but I'm not...so I have been trying to be good to my hair, take vitamins everyday and do it the natural way! I still have a ways to go, but its just past my shoulders right now. Its quite annoying to do anything with, especially with all my layers that I decided to chop into my hair and my bangs. I've been trying to find some good ways to style it for now on youtube and other sites. I mostly just do the little poof in the front to keep my bangs out of my face and a pony or bun. If anyone has any suggestions for styling or growing my hair that would be super!

First Post!

Today I sadly returned home from my junior year of college. Where did it all go? I guess I'm officially a senior now. I have so much unpacking to do! This summer's goals: get my license(yes, I'm 21 and still don't have one!), get a real job, do some traveling, and hopefully be out of this house as often as possible. Also I have a new goal of working on this blog, which I have no idea how to do...but I'm hoping to fill it with fashion, travel, opinions and whatever I feel like I guess! I feel like no one is going to read this, but it doesn't really matter. This is simply for my own amusement, but if anyone does care...let me know.
