summer has been great- filled with fun, sun, and revealing outfits, but if you are like me you have already begun to dream of the next season, my favorite season. Why do I look forward to a time of declining temperature you may ask? Well I do enjoy the crisp autumn weather, but even more than that I love fall fashion and all that comes with it! To me fall has always been a time of hope and new beginnings. Much of this is due to the nostalgia of returning to school each coming fall(with a new wardrobe), this fall being the first time I will not get to experience this excitement. Autumn has also always brought new people into my life, friends and boyfriends-every relationship with a guy I have been involved with was started in the fall, including my current one (10/3/09)! It’s just a magical time of year, and the fashion represents that.

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"; mso-fareast-Times New Roman"font-family:";font-size:12.0pt;" >My yearning for autumn led me to scope out the trends on the runways for F/W 2011 which I would like to break down for you. This fall expect the unexpected, no longer does a drop in temperature have to mean plain dark clothes. Though the runways did have their fair share of black there were also a lot of whites, bright colors, sheer fabric, side cut shirts, sparkle/shine, appliqués, and prints (including tribal, animal and floral!) These trends were seen not only on one or two runways, but almost all of them (isn’t it strange how all designers come up with the same concepts each season-conspiracy!) There were also the returning trends that we see almost every fall on the runways including leather, lace, velvet, pleats, feathers, knits, neutrals, suiting, fur, and plaid. The overwhelming decade influences seemed to be 1940’s, 1970’s, and Victorian era, but I also noticed some 20's influence as well as world traveler themes.

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"; mso-fareast-Times New Roman"font-family:";font-size:12.0pt;" >The top designers that I love for this fall are Alice & Olivia, Burberry Prorsum, Vivienne Westwood and Roberto Cavalli. Alice & Olivia had a major 70's vibe with hints of other eras. It displayed a variety of looks for different occasions including -corduroy bellbottoms paired with a sweater and blazer for a casual day look, a glitzy sparkly dress paired with a fur wrap for a fancy evening out and a tweed skirt paired with a fur trimmed jacket for the office. As usual Burberry captured me with their amazing coats, which I long for every season. They switched it up this year though and incorporated the trends of bright colors and animal prints. There were also fur, puffed, and plaid coats. Each outfit was very simple-bright pieces were allowed to shine paired with monotone neutrals. The overall feel of Burberry was classic, clean and modern. Vivienne Westwood showed modern takes on suiting and many shiny pieces-including coats, pants, dresses and boots, and even had some tribal inspired designs. The pairing of each piece was uniquely Westwood-yellow body suit with long sleeve cropped top, shorts and boots, or how about a sheer plaid mini-skirt with metallic puff sleeve top, maroon knee highs and black crystal adorned shoes? O, and let’s not forget the crazy tribal face makeup. Roberto Cavalli truly amazed me, every outfit incorporated multiple trends and prints-there was so much going on, which would have been easy to make look like a jumbled mess, but was very well executed. The collection was a mix of deep blues, reds and even black and white. Many beautiful skirts and dresses were shown, as well as jackets with a mix of suiting- trouser and vest separates. Each look exuded elegance and opulence with a rock star edge.

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"; mso-fareast-Times New Roman"font-family:";font-size:12.0pt;" >So now I’m going to put on some big bossy plaid pants and tell you what to buy for this fall (this will ironically not include plaid pants). If you are a person who dresses up and wears suits to work, this is the season to stock up. Invest in suiting that is unique and interesting, which can also be mixed and matched or broken up for a more casual look, a la Chanel. Pencil skirts, belts, stockings, and dresses are 40’s inspirations that are hot right now! For the weekend or after work change it up with sheer lace tops, bright accessories, shiny pants, or a leather skirt. Make outfits unique and funky by mixing unexpected patterns and layering!

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"; mso-fareast-Times New Roman"font-family:";font-size:12.0pt;" >If you don’t really dress up or you are still a student (I envy you!) go for some more casual pieces that are 70’s inspired. D&G showed all sorts of fun, young designs for this fall including stripes, bright colors (Orange & Yellow), letter prints, sheer and lots of layering! The classics like cords can be a great addition- skinny or flare, neutral or bright! The school girl look will always be popular, grab a pleated mini and take it in a different direction by pairing it with a printed tee or sheer blouse, as seen from Mulberry. A new bag with fringe or animal print, tribal inspired jewelry, or cutting the sides of pre-existing tops (sounds a bit crazy) are smart ways to incorporate trends without spending all your hard earned cash.

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"; mso-fareast-Times New Roman"font-family:";font-size:12.0pt;" >I hope this overview of the fall season will guide your upcoming purchases and lead to great on trend style!
Hello all its been a while, but hopefully worth the wait. Today I wanted to share with you my new obsession: HAIR FEATHERS!! For those of you who have not heard of this wonderful new accessory trend let me enlighten you. Hair feathers are rooster feathers around 10in. in length that one can put in their hair just like hair extensions to add some flair. These feathers were originally used by fly fisherman, but now that us fashionistas want them the demand has increased causing supplies to become scarce (especially because our fine feathered friends can take up to a year to grow them). This means that hair feathers aren't cheap, especially for those who go to a salon to get them done. The salon nearest me that does hair feather extensions charges $25.00 for 3.

Don't panic though fellow fashionistas with just a few supplies(and the knowledge of where to get them) you can do your own feather hair extensions at home! Everything that I got for the extensions were purchased from Etsy, which is a great site where you can buy from individuals who have all sorts of great handmade items. The first items you need are extension tools- pliers, a hair hook, and special beads. I got my tools from "P Soup Designs" for around $20.00. Then you just need to choose what kind of feathers you want, they come in many colors and styles. I decided on a natural colored bunch(usually called "grizzly) of 6 which are all already connected together at the top, some feathers are bunched together like this and others are individual feathers. I purchased my feathers from "zeezoes" also for around $20.00 for the bunch of 6 that also came with 2 beads.
Therefore I did spend $40.00, but I see the tools as a future investment because they allow me to put in and take out my own extensions as I wish. Also I already have 6 feathers in my hair that cost me less than 3 at the salon. These were the best deals I could find on the web that had the supplies in stock. There are quite a few retailers that sell feather extensions, but many are either expensive or sold out. Other places I would recommend other than individual sellers on Etsy are Famous Feathers (which is currently sold out because of the great prices) and Hair Feather. Lastly I would like to leave you with a great tutorial that I followed that will teach you how to install your hair feathers. Enjoy!!Kimmyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00309026824368533867noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3831298876790862010.post-27832537136762302302011-05-23T10:12:00.000-07:002011-05-23T11:16:45.378-07:00Graduation Fashion!

This weekend was my College Graduation Ceremony!! I now have my Bachelors of Science Degree in Marketing! The weekend was full of friends, family and fashion. I made sure that I wore something comfortable yet chic under the weird and ugly graduation gown and hat(I do not understand these traditional garbs). I found my beautiful printed dress surprisingly at Burlington Coat Factory for only $25.00! I was expecting to pay much more for a dress and almost ordered one for $70.00 from Urban Outfitters. The shoes were also a vital part of the outfit, because with the gown on they are all that can be seen of my personal fashion. I searched and search for the perfect nude pumps, orginally with Steve Madden's Caryssa pumps in mind. I went to many stores and websites and ended up finding these ones from Call it Spring on zappos.com for $50.00. I ordered them on a Tuesday and received them the next day on Wednesday with free shipping! I ordered a size 8 and they fit perfectly and have already worn them for more than one occasion and have a wedding coming up that they will be perfect for. These are not the most comfortable shoes(as you can probably guess!) but they look soo good! My feet did hurt almost all day, especially due to the lengthy standing and waiting time, but I would do it all over again.

The night before graduation was an honors ceremony I was invited to for my cumulative GPA of 3.5(yes, I am bragging). I also had to wear the ugly gown to this, but wore a different dress underneath. This dress was also a new purchase, it was a potential for my graduation dress and then I found the other one. This dress was from Charlotte Russe and also only cost $25.00 it was gray with flowers on top with a build in empire waist black belt with black skirt(and pockets!). I paired silver Nine West heels with it that I already had and in fact were the shoes I wore to my High School Graduation Ceremony.

Lesson for today is for that special occasion start looking wayy ahead, and look in unexpected places! You don't have to spend big bucks for a great outfit, look for deals and look at what you already own. IF you are going to spend a considerable amount of money be sure that it is something worth it, spend money on investment pieces that you will wear over and over again. Also as usual suffering for fashion a little is okay. My dress was very comfortable-made of cotton and fit perfectly, however; the shoes pained me, but they looked amazing. Don't be that person in the pictures with jeans and sneakers, step it up for your big day and shine!Kimmyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00309026824368533867noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3831298876790862010.post-77372649449193276382011-04-29T10:34:00.000-07:002011-04-29T10:54:21.404-07:00Business Meets FashionI am constantly a day or two behind on posting, please bear with me. I just simply wanted to share my fashionable, yet business appropriate outfit that I wore for a presentation this week! I am wearing a cardigan from H&M, blouse from The Limited, pencil skirt from H&M, belt from Express(which I have since lost!!)and Jones NY shoes from DSW. Sometimes its hard to find the right balance between Business and Fashion, but I think I have finally figured it out!

Here is what I have learned:

1.Always wear a closed toe heel that is preferably a pointed toe around 3 in in height(style+comfort).

2.Solid black basic are your friend!

3.Offset the solid colors with a fun printed blouse.

4.Don't show too much skin- skirts should be to the knee, and please no cleavage.

5.Finally accessorize, but keep it to a minimum- one accessory is usually enough.

So now I want to ask you how do you incorporate your personal style for school or work?Kimmyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00309026824368533867noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3831298876790862010.post-79002942274658847242011-04-27T11:09:00.000-07:002011-04-27T11:43:40.568-07:00Spring ChicI'm loving this weather! Yesterday I just needed to wear some destroyed capris so I reached for my Pacsun destroyed skinny/straight jeans! I paired these with a new top that I purchased from TJ Maxx, my pendant from Forever21, a skinny braided belt from Urban Outfitters and moccasins from Target! I also wore my H&M green military jacket because it was still a bit chilly, and it pulled together the outfit. This was just a simple, comfortable and affordable look that I quickly threw together. I was also rocking the nuetral trend, which apparently did not go unnoticed. I was sitting in a building at school and was approached by a manager from Abercrombie who was looking to recruit people, she was interested in hiring me. I gave her my information and am expecting a call from the district manager. Looking good is so important, and this potential job is most definitely because I looked put together that day! Those who may slouch around in sweats, even just to class don't think that your appearance goes unnoticed, opportunities await everywhere!Kimmyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00309026824368533867noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3831298876790862010.post-26370202603959434602011-04-22T09:47:00.001-07:002011-04-22T11:06:41.540-07:00For the Love of the Earth!
Happy Earth day everyone!! This is of course the blog of J'aime Renee, Stylista. Talk about commitment, this girl has given up shopping for lent and is blogging about how she inventively makes a cute outfit everyday without new clothes. Genius!! Although I can say I know a thing or two about fashion this stylista is a pro, and I find myself following her styling tips sometimes even unconsciously. This happened just the other day when I looked in my closet and felt the day called for a blazer. I put together the outfit in the picture, then realized something...J'aime had done something very similar on her blog! She had given advice to a follower on how to incorporate graphic tees into an adult wardrobe, and I sure listened! Check out how similar our outfits are! Most recently J'aime Renee has won my heart with a post featuring the Olsen's and spring fashion, what else is there to say? This girl is honestly the next Rachel Zoe and if your not already, become a follower of J'aime Renee, Stylista. Seriously, what are you waiting for!?Kimmyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00309026824368533867noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3831298876790862010.post-67950972610424373462011-03-30T09:54:00.000-07:002011-03-30T10:27:07.088-07:00Nail Trials

I finally did it, I purchased the new O.P.I "Black Shatter" nail lacquer! I have used it twice already, the first try I used it on top of a bright pink polish from China Glaze(which has recently come up with its own "crackle" glaze in order to compete with O.P.I). This was cute, but the pink color was a bit dark, and I didn't get the bold contrast I was hoping for. On my second use of the "Black Shatter" I decided to use a lighter shade and opted for my O.P.I "Coney Island Cotton Candy" as the base color(as seen in the picture). This created optimum results and I was getting complements on this look everywhere I went! I was extremely surprised about the knowledge and hype surrounding the new "Black Shatter" polish that I shared with so many other women. I am so very happy to have bought this product and it is highly recommended, especially if you LOVE random complements. My next base I'm thinking of using with the "Black Shatter" is white, I think this will create a very bold look. Stay tuned for more nail polish opinions and tests!
Kimmyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00309026824368533867noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3831298876790862010.post-58228466773169489092011-01-03T23:21:00.000-08:002011-03-30T10:36:29.275-07:00OPI Nail Polish!
I just recently purchased my first bottle of OPI nail polish. I'm hooked. This nail polish is seriously the best I have ever used, I understand now! Unfortunately the shade I bought( Coney Island Cotton Candy) is not as dark as I thought it would be. It will be a great understated light pink nail polish for the spring. Its still winter though, and for me this means deep shades- usually maroon or black. I already did maroon and now I want to try on black again, but this time with a twist. Katy Perry has designed a line of nail polish for my new favorite brand, OPI and she has introduced us to a new technique-shattered! There is a polish available in the Katy Perry OPI collection that when painted over any shade it creates a shattered/ leopard print type effect! After I'm done obsessing over my current shade I am going to pick up a bottle of OPI Black Shatter(at discount) and pair it with a bright shade. I think this is going to be amazing, there will be an update.Kimmyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00309026824368533867noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3831298876790862010.post-68229128930543778192011-01-02T19:29:00.000-08:002011-03-30T10:39:43.947-07:00O, hey!

Hello!! I'm alive. I was sooo busy the end of this last semester at school and had no time for anything. My computer also had a virus and I was unable to really use it for a while. I am back though, for now until I get super busy again!! This coming semester I am taking 6 classes and then graduating, so I will also be on the hunt for jobs. O, and I still need to get my drivers license :/ lets not talk about that...Lets talk about some of my other problems, lets talk about lookbook. I am FRUSTRATED with you lookbook!!! I put so much time into doing my looks such as my most recent(seen with this post) and who hypes it? My boyfriend, thats it! I'm sick of the same people reigning over lookbook popularity and how unfair the website set up is! But you know WHAT!? I don't care, I'm gonna stop caring. I am awesome and hot and stylish and I know it. Thats all that matters right now. Sigh....I'm gonna go take some more lookbook pics.Kimmyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00309026824368533867noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3831298876790862010.post-16647295934194150742010-06-14T17:27:00.000-07:002010-06-14T17:28:25.815-07:00LOOKBOOK

I just got a lookbook!! Last night I decided to cook dinner for the family. I watch a lot of food network so I had a few ideas. His mom showed me the whole chicken she had in the freezer and I knew what I would make. I really enjoy watching Ina Garten, "Barefoot Contessa", who is often making chicken on her show, so I naturally took a recipe from her. I made her Engagement Roast Chicken, which had been renamed that after she was told by women that all worked in the same office, who when anyone made this for their boyfriend they were then engaged within 24 hours! I did not make this with the hopes of my boyfriend asking me to marry him though, I only made it to happily feed his family. It indeed came out good too(and it actually looked a lot like the picture!), for sides I made green beans and mashed cauliflower. This is a great meal for an averaged sized family but with the seven of us(4 of them boys!) the meat went fast. I will be making this again, maybe with some slight changes, and maybe next time I will actually be looking for that special question...Kimmyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00309026824368533867noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3831298876790862010.post-62777083683636972102010-05-20T20:53:00.000-07:002010-05-20T21:15:10.932-07:00What remains is the future

I have been wanting to do this for a while, this is what I wore today! Navy "what remains is the future" Truely Madly Deeply tee from Urban Outfitters(tucked in a bit because its so long!), light destroyed denim shorts from Pac Sun, vintage hand-me-down belt from the 70's from my dad, purple checkered vans from Journey's, and the heart necklace was a Christmas gift from my boyfriend :) I also was wearing some lipstick, which is something I've been trying lately. Today in fact, I bought some more from Target, but was once again dissappointed as I was when I purchased some from there about a month ago. For the real good stuff I have learned to go to the department stores. The kind I wore today was a department store buy, and thats why I think its so good.
Kimmyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00309026824368533867noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3831298876790862010.post-54097597208669638852010-05-18T21:50:00.000-07:002011-03-30T10:35:26.342-07:00Summer Skin
I'm officially ready to move out of my parents house for the summer already! I can't wait to go back to school, who would ever think I would think that. Luckily my amazing boyfriend is coming this weekend to visit me and then to sweep me away back to his house near where I go to school and where many of my friends are nearby! I can't wait to see him and get a break from being home. Anyways, I've been trying out some new facial treatments lately to try to improve my skin and keep myself occupied. The first was a yogurt mask and the second was an aspirin mask. The yogurt one was....kinda gross haha, I think it helped to firm my face and maybe I'll try it again. The aspirin one is something that I have been wanting to try since I saw it on Youtube. I think this will become a weekly routine, because I liked it quite alot. It made my face very stiff when it was on, but when I washed it off my skin felt very soft and looked nice! If you have red, irritated skin or acne then this could be a helpful solution. Here is the link on youtube, which explains why and how to make the mask. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-Hksg8B4cQKimmyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00309026824368533867noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3831298876790862010.post-68630594926932775232010-05-14T15:38:00.000-07:002011-03-30T10:41:26.144-07:00We don't care anymore...
So I've been thinking lately, I wish everyone cared how they looked as much as people do on TV and in Hollywood. Peoples casual attitude about life kinda depresses me. I remember looking at old pictures of my grandmother from back in the 50's and 60's and she always looked so fabulous! She always wore heels everyday with her perfectly matching and meticulously put together onsaumble. On more dressy occasions she even threw on her fur hat and shawl. Now I go to the store and people are wandering around in their PJ's looking like they escaped from the mental institution! Why!?!? ugg...these people make me feel so uncomfortable. I'm the girl who wants to dress up everywhere I go, even to Wal-Mart. I like to put together unique and fashion forward outfits, and wear 4 in. stilettos! I feel weird being so put together among the mental escapees though, because I look like the weird one, and I feel like people look at me and think I'm trying too hard. The truth is that I love fashion and I actually just care and want to look HOT! I really hope times change again and people, women in particular, begin to care once again. Then I will be able to look amazing, but not stick out like a sore thumb in my heels in Home Depot. haha.Kimmyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00309026824368533867noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3831298876790862010.post-33605235008338918052010-05-12T17:58:00.000-07:002011-03-30T10:42:50.990-07:00Taylor Momsen
I have not been keeping up on many of my TV shows, including gossip girl. I do try to keep up on the fashions and stars of the show. Taylor Momsen was recently on a British morning show, where of course she shows off how wonderful Americans manners are and not only looks extremely bored the entire time but also drops an 's' bomb. I love this girl, but seriuosly look alive! and come on of course you can't swear on a LIVE morning show. The other big problem that people had with her appearence was her lack of pants....this honestly makes me laugh. Yes, maybe she should have been more covered but her shirt isn't any shorter than dresses and skirts many women walk around in. She is right to defend her style, she has the youth and body for it, you go girl! I had no idea though that she was as young as she is! Taylor is only 16 years old, but looks and acts many years older. I thought she was at least 21! I wish Taylor luck with her band and acting, and will contine to try to look as fashionable as she is, maybe ill try my luck with some knee highs and no pants ;) here is the link to the huffington post with the video and some reactions.http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/05/11/taylor-momsen-goes-pantsl_n_571895.htmlKimmyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00309026824368533867noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3831298876790862010.post-66695356342020673292010-05-10T17:57:00.000-07:002011-03-30T10:37:46.028-07:00MMMMM BROWNIES!!

So I'm still working up the nerve to do those exercises, but while I was waiting I decided I wanted some brownies :) So I found this quick microwave brownie recipe that I remember seeing before. I didn't have unsweetened cocoa, so I just used hot coco mix and used less sugar. It's pretty good, not as good as regualar brownies, but its great to suppress a late night craving. Here's the recipe:
http://www.squidoo.com/fiveminutebrownieKimmyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00309026824368533867noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3831298876790862010.post-80933457332456967772010-05-10T14:05:00.000-07:002011-03-30T10:38:31.379-07:00Exercise?So I'm sitting on my futon in my sweats watching Wendy Williams. I should however, be doing some of these exercises that Daily Candy was nice enough to inform me about! Tracy Anderson (Gwyneth Paltrow's trainer who helped her to get her fit figure for Iron Man 2) shows a number of different moves to get your body beach ready. She does a few segments targeting specific parts of the body in different parts of Central Park, one on the benches which is quite different.I am planning on doing these exercises, when I can actually get the motivation to get off this futon. My favorite exercise that Anderson demonstrates is for those pesky love handles, which I always have trouble with. Check it out!
http://www.dailycandy.com/online/video/how-to/82940/Get-Beach-Ready-with-Tracy-AndersonKimmyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00309026824368533867noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3831298876790862010.post-69182892685232512592010-05-09T18:02:00.000-07:002011-03-30T10:38:12.151-07:00Yearning for long locks
so, I've been trying to grow my hair out for a little while now. I chopped off a good amount last summer with the rest of the world. It was above my shoulders with layers, and sooo cute. But I got annoyed with the hassle of straightening it all the time and keeping it styled. It seems like short hair is easy, but that's only true for people with naturally straight hair. Anyways I used to have really really long hair a couple years ago, and I'm starting to miss it. I look at all the celebs with their long flowing locks and I want that too. Mary-Kate and Kim K are definitely some of my hair icons. I know they have extensions, but I still want their hair, naturally. Maybe if I was rich like a celebrity I would get extensions, but I'm not...so I have been trying to be good to my hair, take vitamins everyday and do it the natural way! I still have a ways to go, but its just past my shoulders right now. Its quite annoying to do anything with, especially with all my layers that I decided to chop into my hair and my bangs. I've been trying to find some good ways to style it for now on youtube and other sites. I mostly just do the little poof in the front to keep my bangs out of my face and a pony or bun. If anyone has any suggestions for styling or growing my hair that would be super!Kimmyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00309026824368533867noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3831298876790862010.post-45228159318505339802010-05-08T20:11:00.000-07:002010-05-08T20:28:17.451-07:00First Post!Today I sadly returned home from my junior year of college. Where did it all go? I guess I'm officially a senior now. I have so much unpacking to do! This summer's goals: get my license(yes, I'm 21 and still don't have one!), get a real job, do some traveling, and hopefully be out of this house as often as possible. Also I have a new goal of working on this blog, which I have no idea how to do...but I'm hoping to fill it with fashion, travel, opinions and whatever I feel like I guess! I feel like no one is going to read this, but it doesn't really matter. This is simply for my own amusement, but if anyone does care...let me know.Kimmyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00309026824368533867noreply@blogger.com0
